PETA Lets Down Women, Again

PETA has always been known for controversy. From throwing red paint on fur-wearers to their hypersexualized “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign, PETA’s PR department certainly lives by the philosophy that any coverage is good coverage.

So what do you make of this new ad campaign? It seems to us that PETA is condoning violence against women. Why would an organization so concerned with the ethical treatment of animals not be concerned with the ethical treatment of people?

We’re not sure if PETA meant to be offensive with this commercial. It certainly appeals to the heterosexual male, which seems to be their target (naked girl, check). Associating veganism with male virility seems like a powerful argument in a society which generally deems meat eating ‘manly.’ But PETA, is it worth it to alienate vegan women? Or all women?
